A Comparison of Online PHP Auction Software
I'm doing a little research of online web site auction software that can be set up and customized, at least a little bit, for a client. Some brief Googling has not shown me many not-for-profit based comparisons. So here's a little table comparing various softwares I came up with in my search.
I've broken the list down by commercial and open source. Except for that, there is no real order to the chart.
NOTE: Prices are rounded up as I'm too lazy to keep typing .99... :)
| Software | Base Features | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial | ||
| TeleBid Auction Software | Penny Auction | $500 |
| PHPAuction-enuuk auction platform |
Standard Auctions |
$380 (not customizable) |
| PHP PROBID |
Standard Auctions Reverse Auctions Make an Offer |
$188 |
| Ajax PHP Penny Auction (PHP 4 ONLY) | Penny Auctions | $100 |
| Penny Auction Script | Penny Auctions | $795 |
| AJ Auction Pro |
Standard Auctions Reverse Actions |
$200 (limited customization) $2500 (customizable) |
| WP Auctions (WordPress) | Standard Auctions | $30 |
| Open Source/Module Add Ons | ||
| WeBid (beta) | ?? | |
|
Drupal/Ubercart Auction (no longer in development) |
Standard Auctions | |
|
Drupal E-commerce Module (woefully underdeveloped) |
??? |
There are plenty more packages. I've just listed the major one's I've come across. My impression is that there is Very LITTLE Open Source community support for decent online auction software yet and most all the software out there is proprietary and the sales pitches are at a crescendo.
Feel free to add in more!
